2035 Futures
We partnered with Samsung Design Europe on a forward-looking exploration of 2035 Futures. Over three months, we applied a structured futures methodology, spanning signal scanning and consequence mapping, the creation of possible futures and speculative artefacts, and scenario development with worldbuilding to uncover critical uncertainties and strategic opportunities. The project is top secret so we cannot share specific details, but we can share a bit about the process we used.
Problem Seeking
We scanned multiple domains around key themes, developed clustered provocations, mapped consequences, and unveiled potential future events, synthesising them into a set of possible futures, compiled as the Futures Pack to guide exploration.
Conceptual Design
Speculative artefacts were developed to reflect or interrogate these futures, iteratively explored for form, context, and interaction, and visualised in high quality renders. The resulting Provocation Pack sparked reflection and dialogue.
Worldbuilding
We created five scenarios, including a wildcard, detailing social, cultural, and environmental conditions and key stakeholders. These scenarios provided context to critique artefacts and extract insights, compiled as the Worldbuilding Pack.
Storytelling
Key stakeholders from each scenario were developed into first-person narratives to capture lived experience. These perspectives surfaced critical uncertainties and translated them into actionable strategic opportunities.
